As part of France Design Week 2024, JAD (Jardin des métiers d’art et du design) organized a webinar on the theme Intégrer l’enfance au design : est-ce simple ? This round-table discussion explored how design can play a part in producing an attentive ear for childhood and its particularities. The event, held on September 20 as part of the « Fair Play : design et métiers d’art, beaux joueurs de l’inclusion ? » exhibition, brought together a number of experts to question the place of children in design processes and the creative and cultural industries.
Audrey Brugnoli, SACRe doctoral student, shared her experience of working with children as part of her Peaux Ethiques doctoral project. Through her practice at the MAGEC reference center of the Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades and at the Institut Imagine, she discussed her methodology for preparing and carrying out projects integrating children’s voices, as well as the importance of their active participation in the design process.

This meeting, part of the Fair Play exhibition (a carte blanche offered by JAD to Sismo for summer 2024, curated by Marcela Mussi and Antoine Fenoglio), aimed to raise awareness and create a multi-sector dialogue around design issues. Discussions focused in particular on the challenges of more inclusive design for children in different institutional contexts such as hospitals and schools, but also more broadly in the creative and cultural industries.
