Participation in the international symposium: “Decolonizing museums and revaluing monuments”, November 20-22, 2024, Madrid

Francesca Cozzolino will take part in this symposium with a talk entitled “Une opération de patrimonialisation décoloniale en débat : l’acquisition des cayucos zapatistes par le Reina Sofía de Madrid.” She will explore the emergence of decolonial museographic narratives, drawing on the example of the reorganization of the Reina Sofía Museum’s collections as part of the “Vasos Comunicantes” project. Through this case study, which includes the acquisition of artifacts created by the autonomous communities of Chiapas, Francesca Cozzolino will analyze the challenges and prospects of a museography that integrates the voices and heritage of indigenous cultures.
