On December 17, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm, Mudam – Musée d’Art Contemporain du Luxembourg will host a conference moderated by Samuel Bianchini. Entitled “Creating with AI – Potential and limits of creating artworks with artificial intelligence technologies”, this meeting, organized by the Institut français du Luxembourg, invites reflection on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in artistic creation.
AI and its many facets
Now ubiquitous, AI technologies are shaping many aspects of our lives: work, leisure, research, the economy, education, transport, the media and social relations. Their rise is based primarily on powerful algorithms and massive quantities of data. But how do these advances influence art?
Generative AIs, capable of producing texts, sounds and images, arouse as much enthusiasm as they do questions. Can they contribute to the creation of authentic, singular works, or do they run the risk of reducing art to standardized media productions? How can we maintain the link with the materiality of the world and integrate these technologies into an ecological and evolutionary approach?
A dialogue between art and technology
Drawing on concrete examples from his own practice, Samuel Bianchini will explore the possibilities and limits of artistic creation with AIs. Through an approach based on artistic research, he will question our ability to transform these technological tools into engines of new aesthetic experiences.
The conference will conclude with a discussion with the audience, providing an opportunity to deepen the debate.
